As a part of the third year Professional Practice module, Nicola Shipley, Co-Director of Birmingham-based organisation GRAIN, came to talk to the students about the opportunities offered by GRAIN for emerging photographers.

GRAIN is the photography hub and network for photographers in the West Midlands. Based in the Birmingham Library they work with both established and emerging photographers through facilitating projects, commissioning work and curating exhibitions that have extended nationally and internationally.

Nicola talked about the various commissions and projects that GRAIN have been involved in and the way that their work could benefit the students. The students were also given the opportunity to have one to one tutorials with Nicola to benefit from her extensive knowledge about developing projects and showing work.
