Giant prints in the darkroom

It’s not long now until the much anticipated img19 photography show will be opening.  Here is a last insight into the artisan skills and many hours that have gone into the making of the works you will be seeing at the Lanchester gallery on the Coventry University campus.

For her final work Lauren Thatcher wanted to investigate the meaning attached to clothes items and the narrative stories that they retain even when they are no longer used by the original owner. She has created impressively large photograms, by layering garments sourced from eBay onto photographic paper. This short clip shows the effort that this has required over many weeks of trial an error in the darkroom.
