NEWFOTOSCAPES is the latest offering in open educational resources pioneered by Coventry. It is the brain child of Jonathan Shaw our Associate Head of Department, who was responsible for bringing the photography course to Coventry and also leading the early developments of open photography education co-founding picbod.org and phonar.org with course leader Jonathan Worth.
NEWFOTOSCAPES continues our belief and passion for understanding photography in the 21st Century, offering the reader new paths to explore and new thinking in this increasingly complex professional world. NFS features interviews with 9 leaders photographic stakeholders including; Andy Adams of the infamous American initiative Flakphoto, Charlotte Cotton author of The Photograph as Contemporary Art, Mishka Henner an exciting and challenging contemporary photographer and Dewi Lewis an award winning photobook publisher.
NEWFOTOSCAPES is a multi-platform book, released under a creative commons license and is available for free online at http://newfotoscapes.org but simultaneously offered as an ebook experience tailored for tablet screens and as a beautifully designed ‘exposed spine’ hardback printed book. It has been made possible with the support of GRAIN Photography Hub and published by the Library of Birmingham.
