Dr Mark Carrigan – Integrity in a digital world

By -

Students and staff from the MA CCM course recently attended a talk with Dr Mark Carrigan, an academic and researcher focusing on Digital Sociology as part of the Sociologically Speaking seminar series.

Dr Carrigan is the writer of the book ‘Social Media for Academics’ and blogs for the Sociological Imagination – a digital sociology thought space he set up with fellow academics Milena Kremakova and Sadia Habib.

The seminar focused on integrity in the digital age and the evolution of identity on online platforms – particularly how platforms such as Facebook call for a simplified identity for users whereas in real life terms, their identities are far more complicated.

Below are a few tweets collected from the MA CCM Twitter account which was live tweeting the event.

An enjoyable talk with a lively Q&A session by both staff and students. We look forward to having Mark visit again soon. You can learn more about his work on his personal website or on the Sociological Imagination
