Coventry University’s MA courses provide a unique preparation for various kinds of journalistic career. We offer the world’s only masters degree course in Automotive Journalism, and a large number of our graduates are now writers and editors on car magazines and websites. The Global Journalism course provides both academic rigour and practical training as students investigate some of the most pressing issues in the world.
Students on both pathways work together to produce magazines, but are increasingly expected to develop skills with audio and video, online journalism and social media. They have access to industry-standard software, a TV studio (opened in 2016), two radio studios, and a wide range of kit such as Go Pro cameras and even virtual reality tools.
The teaching staff are experienced, practising journalists and academics with skills in magazines, feature writing, sub-editing, video and audio, news reporting, photography, web production and more.
Students can study for a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or full MA. Applications are welcome from candidates who have substantial industry experience rather than formal degree-level qualifications.
